Green Sweet Chunk Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 lb. cucumbers
    1 1/2 c. pickle salt
    15 c. water
    1 1/2 Tbsp. alum
    1 1/2 Tbsp. ginger
    1 1/2 qt. vinegar
    3/4 qt. water
    4 1/2 lb. white sugar
    2 Tbsp. stick cinnamon
    2 Tbsp. cloves (whole)
    2 Tbsp. celery seed
    green food color
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers.
    Soak in salt and water for 3 days.
    Drain. Cover with water.
    Add alum and scald.
    Let stand 1/2 day.
    Drain. Cover with water.
    Add ginger.
    Scald; let stand 1/2 hour. Drain.
    Boil vinegar, water and sugar.
    In a bag (cheesecloth) put cinnamon, cloves and celery seed.
    Add to water mix.
    Add food color.
    Boil and pour over cucumbers.
    Let stand.
    Repeat 3 days and then can.
