Upper Michigan Pasties(Miner'S Lunch Pies) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. flour
3/4 c. Crisco and lard, mixed
1/4 scraped suet
water
1 1/4 c. diced sirloin steak
4 medium potatoes, sliced thin
2 medium onions, sliced thin
1/4 c. rutabaga, sliced thin
salt and pepper
Preparation

Sift flour into mixing bowl.
Cut in shortening and suet until coarse crumbs.
Add just enough water to make soft dough; mix well.
Divide into 4 parts; roll out each part in large circle. Combine meat and vegetables; divide into 4 parts.
Place filling on one side of each pastry circle; salt and pepper to taste.
Fold over filling and seal edges well.
Prick with fork on top to allow steam to escape.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
Lower heat to 350\u00b0; bake 15 minutes more, or until browned.
