Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

medium sized cucumbers (enough to fill 1 gal. jar)
1/2 c. pickling salt or canning salt
2 qt. boiling hot water
2 tsp. alum
2 qt. boiling hot water
5 c. vinegar
5 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. pickling spices
1 c. sugar
Preparation

Slice enough medium sized cucumbers to fill a gallon jar. Cover with 1/2 cup pickling salt or canning salt and 2 quarts boiling hot water.
Let this stand for 24 hours.
Drain and cover with 2 teaspoons alum and 2 quarts boiling hot water.
Let stand for 24 hours.
