Hamburger Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. lean ground beef (no fat)
    1 small onion, chopped
    2 c. diced potato
    1 c. chopped carrot
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 (27 oz.) can diced tomatoes (undrained)
    2 c. water
    2 c. V-8 juice (more, if desired)
    1/2 c. barley
    2 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
    1/2 tsp. dried oregano
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    In a soup kettle, brown ground beef with
    onion; drain drippings from pan.
    Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
    Makes 8 servings.
