Strawberry Pie - cooking recipe

1 (9-inch) baked pie shell
1 qt. strawberries
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 c. sugar
3 Tbsp. cornstarch
Preparation

Wash, drain and hull strawberries.
Spread softened cream cheese over bottom of cooled, baked pie shell.
Cover with 1/2 of the berries (the best ones).
Mash remaining berries and, if necessary, add a little water to make 1 1/2 cups.
Bring this mixture to a boil and gradually stir in a mixture of sugar and cornstarch.
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until boiling.
Boil one minute (mixture goes from cloudy to clear). Cool.
Pour over berries in pie shell.
Chill about 2 to 4 hours. Just before serving, decorate with whipped cream.
