Five Spice Chicken - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 whole chicken (2 1/2 lb.), cut
    1/3 c. soya sauce
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    1 small onion chopped
    1/2 tsp. ground ginger
    1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. crushed anise seeds
    1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
    1/8 tsp. ground cloves
Preparation
    Place chicken in a shallow glass dish.
    Mix remaining ingredients together and pour over chicken.
    Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
    Occasionally spoon marinade over chicken.
    Remove chicken from marinade but preserve marinade.
    Place chicken in an ungreased glass baking dish.
    Brush marinade on chicken.
    Cook uncovered at 350\u00b0F for 1 hour, occasionally brushing with marinade.
    Serve with mashed potatoes.
