Red Cherry Roll - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. flour
2 c. canned cherry juice
1 Tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. milk
2 c. canned red cherries (pitted)
Preparation

Mix sugar and 1 tablespoon flour.
Add cherry juice and cook 1 minute.
Add butter; let stand.
Sift 1 1/2 cups flour with baking powder and salt; cut in shortening.
Add milk to make a soft dough. Turn onto floured board; knead about 20 seconds, then roll into oblong 1/4-inch thick.
Spread cherries on dough; roll like jelly roll and press edges together.
Cut into 1 1/2-inch slices.
Place on a greased pan and pour cherry juice sauce over top.
Bake in hot oven (425\u00b0) for 25 to 30 minutes.
You may shorten this recipe by using a biscuit mix.
Other fruit may also be substituted for cherries.
