Pear Honey - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 lb. firm ripe pears (5 c.)
1 c. undrained, crushed pineapple
5 c. sugar
red and yellow food coloring (optional)
Preparation

Peel, core and slice pears.
Put the pears through the fine blade of a food chopper or use your processor.
Combine pears, pineapple and sugar in a large kettle and bring to boil, stirring occasionally until the sugar has all dissolved.
Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, about 20 minutes, or until the mixture is thickened.
Stir frequently.
If you like a brighter, golden color, drop in a couple drops each of red and yellow food coloring.
Pour the honey into hot, sterilized jars and seal.
You may let them cool and pour melted paraffin over if you wish.
