Dumplings - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3 level Tbsp. shortening
4 c. cooked broth
1 c. warm milk, pour around pot
1 c. (approximately) buttermilk (stiff dough)
Preparation

Bring broth boil.
Mix flour, soda, salt, shortening and buttermilk.
Roll out thin on a floured board.
Cut in squares or strips.
Cook by layers in boiling broth, then add milk and cooked, deboned chicken pieces.
I use a 5 or 6 pound hen.
