Whole Wheat Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. salt
    5 Tbsp. sugar
    1 c. milk
    4 Tbsp. lard or oil
    2 Tbsp. yeast
    1/2 c. lukewarm water
    3 c. cold water
    3 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
    8 or 9 c. white flour
Preparation
    Measure the salt and sugar in bowl.
    Soak the yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water.
    Heat the milk to scald.
    Add the lard to the milk.
    When melted, add to salt and sugar.
    Stir in the cold water, then add the whole wheat flour.
    Let stand 15 minutes or so, then add the yeast mixture and the white flour, until pretty stiff.
    Knead well.
    Let rise until double.
    Let rise again, then roll out and put in pans.
    Let rise again.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
