Welsh Cakes(Picauarymaen) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 oz. flour
    4 oz. butter or margarine
    3 oz. sugar
    2 oz. currants or raisins
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. mixed spice
    2 Tbsp. milk
    pinch of salt
    1 egg
Preparation
    Sift flour, baking powder, spice and salt together.
    Rub into the butter until it looks like bread crumbs.
    Add sugar and fruit. Add beaten egg and milk and mix to a soft dough.
    Roll out to 1/4-inch thick on floured board and use cookie cutter to form 2-inch rounds.
    Cook over a gentle heat on griddle or electric frying pan for 3 minutes each side.
    When golden brown, remove and sprinkle with sugar.
    Serve alone or with butter.
