Nana'S Caramel Bars - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/4 c. margarine
1 c. brown sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. broken pecans
Preparation

Melt margarine (could be done in pan in which they are going to be baked).
Pour over sugar; stir.
Add egg and vanilla.
Sift together dry ingredients.
Add to first mixture, then add nuts. Mix well.
Spread into 8 x 8-inch or 9 x 9-inch or 5 x 11-inch pan, depending on thickness of bar you want.
Bake 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
Cool slightly and cut into 16 squares or size you want.
Do not overbake.
They should be chewy.
They keep well in an airtight container.
