French Bread A La Zonie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 long loaf French bread (sourdough preferred)
    1/2 to 1 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese, finely shredded
    1/2 c. parsley, finely minced
    1 or 2 cloves garlic, minced
    juice of 1/2 lemon
    salt
    pepper
    melted butter and olive oil
Preparation
    Split the loaf of bread lengthwise, then slice the halves crosswise just to the crust, but not through it.
    Mix the cheese, parsley, garlic, lemon juice, salt and pepper.
    Beat in enough melted butter and olive oil to make a creamy, spreadable mixture. Spread this paste on the cut surfaces of the bread and let stand for an hour or two.
    Just before serving, place on a baking sheet and heat thoroughly in a 375\u00b0 oven for 10 minutes, then brown lightly under the broiler.
