"Frozen" Coconut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box yellow cake mix
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    1/2 tsp. coconut flavoring
    1/2 pkg. frozen coconut
    Cool Whip
Preparation
    Mix yellow cake mix according to directions on box.
    Bake in a 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan.
    While cake is baking, boil together the sugar, water and 1/4 cup coconut.
    Simmer for 20 minutes.
    Add the coconut flavoring.
    Punch holes in hot cake; pour syrup over cake while it is still hot.
    Cool thoroughly.
    Frost with Cool Whip. Sprinkle with coconut.
    (Cool Whip and coconut can be mixed together before frosting, if desired.)
    Refrigerate frosted cake overnight.
    It's moist and g-o-o-d.
