Caramel Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. brown sugar
    3/8 c. milk
    3/8 c. shortening
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix first four ingredients together in saucepan.
    Bring slowly to boil, stirring constantly and boil 1 minute.
    Remove from heat and beat until lukewarm (set pan in cold water while beating to shorten the cooling time).
    Add vanilla. Beat until thick enough to spread.
