Squash Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 medium yellow squash
    2 medium onions, chopped
    1 tsp. sugar
    pinch of salt
    1/2 c. half and half
    5 or 6 slices American cheese
    2 Tbsp. margarine
    black pepper to taste
    1/2 c. cornflake crumbs or more (if desired)
Preparation
    Cook squash, onions and sugar together until tender; drain and gently mash. Dot small casserole with 1/2 the margarine. Alternate layers (2 layers) of the squash mixture, half and half and cheese slices (broken into pieces) and black pepper. Dot with remaining half of margarine. Top with crumbs. Bake, covered, 350\u00b0 until bubbly and slightly browned, about 20 minutes.
