Almond Pretzels Or Mandelplattchen - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    1 c. sifted sugar
    1 to 2 egg yolks
    2 eggs
    1/4 c. cultured sour cream
    2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. double-acting baking powder
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. grated lemon rind
Preparation
    Beat butter until soft.
    Add sifted sugar gradually and blend until creamy.
    Beat in egg yolks, eggs and sour cream.
    Sift together and stir in the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and lemon rind.
    Chill the dough several hours until easy to handle. Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Shape the dough into long, thin rolls and twist these into pretzel shape.
    Place on a greased cookie sheet. Brush with French egg wash.
    Sprinkle the tops with chopped blanched almonds and sugar.
    Bake at once for 10 to 15 minutes. Do not let the pretzels color.
    Makes 2 dozen 2-inch pretzels.
