Black Walnut Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 lb. butter
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. sugar, sifted
5 eggs
1 tsp. rum flavoring
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. plain flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. half and half milk
1 c. black walnuts, chopped
Preparation

Cream butter and shortening together well.
Add sugar and beat until very light.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each egg.
Add flavorings; beat well.
Add flour combined with baking powder alternately with milk.
Fold in walnuts.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 80 minutes.
Do not open oven door during first hour.
