Raisin Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. raisins
    2 c. water
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    2 tsp. baking soda
    4 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. nuts
Preparation
    Bring raisins and next 5 ingredients to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
    Cool.
    Sift the dry ingredients; add to raisin mixture.
    Add vanilla and nuts.
    Spread on greased cookie sheet (not too thick).
    Bake at 350\u00b0 to 375\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes or until done.
    Frost, if desired.
