Tamale Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. ground beef
    2 large onions, chopped
    6 garlic cloves, minced
    2 tsp. salt
    4 1/2 tsp. chili powder
    2 (28 oz.) cans tomatoes
    2 c. chopped olives
    2 c. golden raisins
    3 c. water
    1 c. yellow cornmeal
    1 to 2 c. grated Cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
Preparation
    In a large skillet, saute ground beef, onions, garlic, salt and 4 tablespoons of the chili powder.
    Puree tomatoes in blender and add to meat mixture.
    Add olives and raisins; simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 hours.
    In a large saucepan, boil water and gradually add cornmeal, stirring constantly to prevent lumping.
    Add remaining chili powder; cook and stir until mixture is thickened. Spread meat mixture in a buttered 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
    Spoon cornmeal mixture over top.
    Bake, uncovered, at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour. Sprinkle with cheese during the last 5 to 10 minutes of baking.
