Date Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. dates
    1 c. boiling water
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. flour
    1/2 c. chopped pecans
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix baking soda in water and pour over dates. Let soda, water and dates set for about 20 minutes. Add butter, sugar and egg. Add flour, nuts and vanilla and mix well. Add this to date mixture. Mix all together. Beat and pour into greased loaf pan and bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes. Cover with Brown sauce.
