Pennsylvania Cocoa Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    3/4 c. shortening (part butter)
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. cold coffee
    1/2 c. hot water
    1 c. light brown sugar
    2 eggs
    2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 c. cocoa
    3/4 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Cream sugars and shortening until fluffy.
    Add eggs one at a time, beating until mixture is fluffy after each addition.
    Make a paste of the cocoa and coffee.
    Dissolve soda in warm water. Add the cocoa mixture to creamed mixture and mix well.
    Add dry ingredients and soda mixture.
    Stir to form a smooth batter.
    Bake in greased oblong pan (about 13 x 9-inch) at 350\u00b0 for about 40 to 45 minutes or until done.
