Ingredients

1 c. flour
2/3 c. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
dash of ground cloves
1/2 c. milk
4 medium pears, peeled and cut into chunks (2 c.)
1/2 c. chopped pecans
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. butter or margarine
3/4 c. boiling water

Preparation

In a large bowl, stir flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt and cloves.
Add milk; beat until smooth.
Stir in pears and pecans.
Turn into an ungreased 2-quart casserole.
In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar, butter and boiling water; pour evenly over batter.
Bake in 375\u00b0 oven for 45 minutes.
Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
Makes 8 servings.
