War Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

6 c. brown sugar
6 c. hot water
12 Tbsp. shortening
3 pkg. raisins
6 tsp. cinnamon
3 tsp. cloves
6 tsp. soda, dissolved in 3 Tbsp. warm water
3 tsp. salt
9 c. flour

Preparation

Boil brown sugar, hot water, shortening, raisins, cinnamon and cloves 5 minutes; cool.
Add soda dissolved in warm water, salt and flour.
