Mulled Cider - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. apple cider
    2 (2-inch) cinnamon sticks
    15 whole cloves
    3 1/2 c. orange juice or ginger ale (optional)
Preparation
    Fresh unpasteurized cider works best.
    In a large, heavy pot, combine cider, cinnamon and cloves.
    Taste the mixture.
    If the cider lacks flavor, add the orange juice or ginger ale.
    Warm over medium heat for about 45 minutes.
    Do not boil!
    With a slotted spoon, remove the cloves.
    Serve hot in mugs.
    Yields 16 (8 ounce) servings.
