Original Banana Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/3 c. flour
    4 eggs, separated
    2 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    35 to 40 vanilla wafers
    5 or 6 bananas
    dash of salt
Preparation
    Reserve 1 banana and 10 to 12 wafers for garnish.
    Cook 1/2 cup sugar, flour and salt in top of double boiler.
    Stir in 4 egg yolks and milk.
    Cook, uncovered, in a 1 1/2-quart casserole. Cover with wafers and sliced bananas.
    Make 3 layers of each. Pour milk and egg mixture over bananas.
    Beat egg whites; add 1/4 cup sugar.
    Spread on top.
    Bake at 425\u00b0 for 5 minutes, until brown.
    Serve with wafers and sliced bananas.
