Tamale Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. cornmeal
    2 c. boiling water
    3 c. milk
    1 1/2 lb. ground beef or 2 c. chopped, cooked meat
    1 1/2 c. chopped fresh or canned tomatoes
    1/4 c. chopped bell pepper (optional)
    1 envelope prepared chili seasoning
    1 Tbsp. oil
    1 onion, diced
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Stir cornmeal and salt into boiling water in top of double boiler.
    Cook, stirring, until mixture begins to thicken.
    Add milk, place over hot water, cover and cook 30 minutes.
    Fry beef and onion until done; add chili, tomatoes, salt and pepper.
    Line bottom and sides of 2 to 2 1/2-quart casserole, which has been greased, with 3/4 of hot mush.
    Pour in meat and tomato filling. Cover with remaining mush.
    Can top with Cheddar cheese, if desired.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
