Buttermilk Scones - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/3 c. granulated sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    6 Tbsp. butter, chilled
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    1 large egg
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2/3 c. currants *
Preparation
    *For new twist, substitute other types of dried fruits for the currants.
