Holy Ghost Sopas(Sopas Do Espirito Santo) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 lb. chuck roast
    1 small onion, minced
    10 c. water
    1 Tbsp. pickling spice
    1/2 cinnamon stick
    1/2 c. wine
    1/3 c. tomato sauce
    1 cabbage head
    1 French bread, sliced
    1 mint sprig
    salt to taste
Preparation
    Bring water to a boil.
    Add meat, spices (tied in clean cloth), wine, onion, tomato sauce, mint and salt.
    Cover and cook until meat is tender, about 3 hours.
    Add cabbage, cut in half.
    Cook until tender.
    Place bread slices and a sprig of mint in a deep serving dish or pan.
    Pour boiling broth and cabbage over bread. Remove meat to another dish or platter.
    Serve meat with the sopas. Serves 6 to 8 persons.
