Dill Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt 5% white vinegar
    2 qt water
    1 c plain salt
    2 fresh dill heads or tsp Dill seed
    2 qt jar
    Large clove garlic
    1/4 tsp powdered alum
    Grape Leaf
Preparation
    Wash small whole cucumbers.
    Soak in ice water 5 hours. Place fresh dill or dill seed, garlic, and clove in bottom of jar. Pack cold cucumbers in jar.
    Put 1/4 tsp alum on top.
    Mix solution of vinegar, salt, and water.
    Bring to a boil and pour over cucumbers.
    Place grape leaf on top of cucumber and seal. Pickles must work.
    They won't spoil if you store them in a dark place. They are ready in 8 weeks.
