Red Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
    2 eggs
    2 oz. red food coloring
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. cocoa (sweet)
    1 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 c. cake flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vinegar
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and eggs.
    Make a paste of coloring and cocoa; add to shortening mixture.
    Add milk alternately with flour and salt.
    Add vanilla.
    Fold in vinegar and soda (made in a paste).
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes in 2 nine-inch layer pans.
