Kentucky Whiskey Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. flour, sifted before measuring
    1 lb. white sugar (2 1/3 c.)
    1 c. brown sugar
    3/4 lb. butter
    6 eggs, beaten separately
    1 pt. Kentucky bourbon
    1 lb. candied cherries, cut in pieces or halves
    2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 lb. shelled pecans
    1/2 lb. white raisins, cut in half or 1/2 lb. chopped dates
    1 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Soak cherries and raisins or dates in whiskey overnight.
    Cream sugar and butter until fluffy; add egg yolks and beat well.
    Add soaked fruit and remaining liquid, reserving a small amount of flour for nuts (add remaining to mixture).
    Add nutmeg and baking powder.
    Fold in beaten egg whites.
    Add lightly floured pecans last.
    Bake in a large greased tube pan lined with greased paper. Bake 3 to 4 hours (watch baking time) in slow oven (250\u00b0 to 275\u00b0).
