Sweet And Sour Chicken - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (8 oz.) can pineapple chunks, drained into pan
    2 green bell peppers, cut up
    1/4 c. cornstarch
    1 3/4 c. water
    3/4 c. white sugar
    1/2 c. distilled white vinegar
    10 drops red food coloring
    8 skinless, boneless chicken, cut into 1-inch cubes
    2 1/4 c. self-rising flour
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. white pepper
    1 egg
    2 c. water
Preparation
    In saucepan, combine 1 1/2 cups water, sugar, vinegar, reserved pineapple syrup and red food coloring.
    Heat to a boil. Turn off heat.
    Combine 1/4 cup cornstarch and 1/4 cup cold water; stir into saucepan until mixture thickens.\tCombine flour, 2 tablespoons oil, 2 tablespoons cornstarch, salt, white pepper and egg.
    Add chicken pieces and stir until chicken is well coated. Heat oil in skillet or wok to 360\u00b0F.
    Fry chicken pieces in hot oil until golden brown.
    Remove and drain on paper towels.\tWhen ready to serve, layer green peppers, pineapple and chicken on a platter and pour sauce over the top.
