Squash Relish - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 c. squash, shredded
    2 c. onions, chopped
    3 Tbsp. salt
    2 c. vinegar
    1 c. bell pepper, chopped
    2 pods hot pepper, chopped
    3 c. sugar
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. alum
    1 medium jar pimentos
Preparation
    Mix squash and onions together.
    Sprinkle salt over mixture and let stand 1 hour.
    Drain squash well and mix in remaining ingredients, except pimentos.
    Bring to a boil.
    Add pimentos and bring to a second boil.
    Remove from heat and seal in jars.
