Spaghetti Pie - cooking recipe

1 (8 oz.) pkg. spaghetti, broken into 2-inch pieces
2 Tbsp. butter
1/3 c. grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 egg, well beaten
1 1/2 lb. hamburg (optional)
1 medium onion, chopped (optional)
1/4 c. chopped green pepper (optional)
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil (optional)
1 (15 1/2 oz.) jar spaghetti sauce
1 tsp. sugar (optional)
1/2 tsp. oregano (optional)
1/2 tsp. garlic salt (optional)
1 c. cottage cheese
4 oz. Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Preparation

Cook spaghetti, drain and place in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Stir in butter, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper and egg until thoroughly combined.
Spread mixture evenly in pan.
Saute hamburg, onion and green pepper in oil in a large skillet until meat is brown, then drain.
Stir in spaghetti sauce, sugar, oregano and garlic salt.
Spread cottage cheese over spaghetti layer; top with meat mixture.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes. Sprinkle Mozzarella cheese over top and bake another 5 or 10 minutes, until cheese is melted.
Let stand for 15 minutes before cutting.
