Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    4 c. sugar (if sweeter, add more)
    3 c. distilled white vinegar
    4 qt. sliced cucumbers
    3 to 4 medium onions, sliced
    3 cloves garlic
    1/3 c. table salt
Preparation
    Wash cucumbers and onions;
    slice about 1/4 to 3/8-inch thick. Place
    in\tlarge
    container.
    Add whole garlic cloves; mix together.
    Sprinkle salt over and mix.
    Pour over 2 trays ice cubes;
    let
    stand\tfor 3 hours, adding more ice cubes if needed. Drain thoroughly.
    Combine vinegar, sugar and spices; bring
    to boil.
    Pour
    over
    well drained cucumbers.\tMix and ladle into jars;
    store in refrigerator.
