Five-Hour Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. round steak
    2 cans (8 oz) tomato sauce with cheese
    1 c. water
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 large red potatoes, cut into eighths
    6 carrots, cut into 1-inch pieces
    1 c. coarsely chopped celery
    1/2 medium green pepper, chopped
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 slice white bread with crust, cubed
Preparation
    Trim excess fat from meat and cut meat into pieces about 1 inch square.
    Combine all ingredients in a dutch oven, mixing thoroughly.
    Cover tightly and bake in a preheated 250\u00b0 oven for 5 hours.
    Stir once or twice during cooking period.
    Serves 6.
