Strawberry Crunch Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted flour
    1/3 c. sugar
    3/4 tsp. salt
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/3 c. shortening
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    2/3 c. milk
    2 c. fresh strawberries, sliced
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
    1/3 c. flour
Preparation
    Sift together sifted flour, sugar, salt and baking powder; cut in shortening.
    Combine egg and milk and stir into flour mixture, blending well.
    Spread evenly in greased 11 x 1 1/2 x 7-inch pan. Spoon strawberries over batter and sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar. Mix butter, remaining sugar and flour and crumble over berries. Bake in 425\u00b0 oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
    Serve warm, topped with ice cream, if desired.
    Makes 8 servings.
