Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    25 to 30 medium pickles
    1/2 c. salt
    6 onions
    5 c. sugar
    5 c. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 Tbsp. turmeric
    1/2 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Slice pickles and onion into a large bowl.
    Next pour the salt over the pickles and onions.
    Mix occasionally.
    Let stand 3 hours and drain.
    Now in a large pot, boil the sugar, vinegar and spices.
    Bring to a rolling boil and place the pickles and onion in the pot.
    When the mixture is turning yellow, it is done.
    Put in sterilized jars.
