Baked Potato Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 large baking potatoes, pared
    3 1/2 c. light cream or milk
    4 Tbsp. butter
    2 c. sour cream
    2 c. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
    3 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
    1 medium onion, chopped
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    2 Tbsp. chives
    2 tsp. black pepper
Preparation
    Chop the potatoes into large chunks.
    Place into a medium soup pot and add enough water to cover.
    Cook, covered, until potatoes are fork-tender, about 25 minutes.
    Drain cooking water and mash potatoes.
