Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium head lettuce
    3 stalks celery, diced
    1 medium onion, thinly sliced
    1 can water chestnuts, sliced
    1 small pkg. frozen peas (raw)
    2 c. or less mayonnaise
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    grated Parmesan cheese
    3 or 4 hard-boiled eggs, sliced or diced
    2 or 3 tomatoes in wedges
    1/2 lb. bacon, crumbled
Preparation
    Use 9 x 13-inch dish.
    Layer broken lettuce, diced celery, sliced onion, sliced water chestnuts and peas.
    Cover with mayonnaise.
    Sprinkle on sugar.
    Cover with grated Parmesan cheese, then eggs, tomatoes and bacon.
    Cover lightly and refrigerate 24 hours before serving.
    Serves 12.
