Peppermint Drum Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. shortening
    1 3/4 c. sifted cake flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/3 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 egg whites
    1 3/4 c. sugar
Preparation
    Beat shortening at medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy. Gradually add sugar.
    Beat well. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Begin and end with flour mixture.
    Mix after each addition.
    Stir in vanilla. Beat egg whites at high speed with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.
    Gently fold into batter.
    Pour into 3 greased 9-inch cake pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
