Classic Mud Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
    3 Tbsp. butter
    1 1/4 c. chocolate wafer crumbs
    1/2 c. heavy cream
    3 Tbsp. butter
    1 Tbsp. coffee flavored liqueur
    1 qt. coffee ice cream, softened
    2 Tbsp. coffee flavored liqueur
    whipped cream (optional)
Preparation
    Chocolate Cookie Crust:
    Combine over hot (not boiling) water, 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and butter; stir until chocolate chips are melted and smooth.
    Add wafer crumbs; stir until well blended.
    Press into 9-inch pie pan.
    Chill until firm (35 to 45 minutes).
