Eight Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. fresh or frozen green peas
    1/4 c. chopped scallions or onion
    3/4 c. mayonnaise or Miracle Whip
    1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
    1 head iceberg lettuce
    2 Tbsp. chopped green pepper
    2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
    8 slices lean bacon, cooked and crumbled
Preparation
    Steam peas in a small amount of water until tender, about 3 minutes.
    Remove core from lettuce.
    Wash and pat dry.
    With a sharp knife, shred lettuce into 1/4-inch slices.
    In a glass bowl, place the ingredients in this order: lettuce, scallions and green pepper.
    Spread top with mayonnaise and sprinkle with sugar, Cheddar cheese and bacon.
    Cover tightly with plastic wrap. Refrigerate at least 8 hours.
    Makes 12 servings.
