Grandpa'S Popcorn Balls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    18 c. popcorn
    1 1/2 Tbsp. white vinegar
    3 tsp. vanilla
    24 oz. light corn syrup
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Pick over popped corn, discarding all hard kernels.
    Combine corn syrup, vinegar and salt, cooking slowly over medium heat until a candy thermometer reaches 270\u00b0 or until a small quantity of the mixture dropped in cold water forms a hard ball.
    Remove from heat; add vanilla extract.
    Pour over popped corn, stirring constantly. Grease hands and shape lightly and quickly into balls.
    Wrap in waxed paper.
