Jam Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. ground cloves
    1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 c. jam (especially good with strawberry or raspberry)
Preparation
    Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and cloves together. Add butter or margarine, vanilla and egg.
    Mix until crumbly.
    Put half of mixture in a greased 8-inch square pan.
    Spread out with your hands.
    Spread jam on top, then crumble remaining crumbs over top.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes or until lightly browned. This is a wonderful way to use up dribs and drabs of leftover jam!
