Ingredients

1 pt. fig preserves
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
3/4 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
Preparation

Mash figs and butter in small bowl. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Set aside.
