Orange Slice Cake - cooking recipe

1/2 lb. oleo
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
4 c. flour
2/3 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1 lb. chopped orange slice candy
1 lb. chopped dates
1 lb. coconut
2 c. pecan pieces
Preparation

Use 1 cup flour to dredge the dates, orange slices, coconut and pecans. Set aside. Cream oleo and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add soda to buttermilk and add alternately with dry ingredients until well blended. When well mixed, add the dredged fruits and nuts and fold in gently. Pour into a tube pan that has been greased and floured. Bake at 250\u00b0 for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. A very rich cake.
