French Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    fresh cucumbers
    1 large onion
    1 bell pepper (optional)
    1 Tbsp. salt
    2 c. white vinegar
    4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. celery seed
Preparation
    In a one gallon jar, slice cucumbers, onion and bell pepper. Add salt and let stand 1 hour.
    Pour off liquid, but do not rinse. Mix vinegar, sugar and celery seed to dissolve (do not heat). Pour over cucumbers.
    Pack tight, cover and refrigerate for 5 days.
