Two Caramel Pies - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sugar
2 c. whole milk
5 eggs
pinch of salt
2 heaping Tbsp. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lump butter
2 cooked pie crusts (8 or 9-inch)
Preparation

Separate eggs.
Brown 1 cup sugar over low heat, stirring often to keep from burning.
Add lump of butter and 2 or 3 tablespoons water.
Stir until all dissolved.
Heat milk.
Add beaten egg yolks, flour, salt and the other cup of sugar to warm milk.
Add the milk and egg mixture into the browned sugar. Continue to stir over low heat until mixture thickens.
Remove from heat and add vanilla.
Pour into pie shells.
Let cool while beating the egg whites into a stiff meringue.
(Add sugar to taste to egg whites.)
Top pies with meringue and brown in oven until golden.
